This year’s Christmas concert was a sold out event! Over 500 tickets were bought and more than 15 acts graced the stage at the Shanghai Library on Sunday, November 30.
The concert came just in time to begin the season, offering Christmas cheer to attendees while also supporting Caritas Shanghai and its numerous projects. Upon entering the lobby, attendees could peruse all the wares at the mini bazaar while learning more about Caritas Shanghai and our ongoing projects and special cases.
This year’s program included a diverse group of performers, from individual singers to church choirs and even migrant children and Spanish flamenco dancing. The international performers did not disappoint the audience with over 15 acts that performed a variety of music from traditional Christmas carols in English and Chinese to a young rock band creating a palpable energy in the beginning of the show. The two hour long program flowed seamlessly.
No Christmas event would be complete without Christmas decorations and a visit from Santa. He came with sweets for all the children in the audience and smiles were in abundance. The mini-bazaar was quite successful, where attendees could purchase Christmas baked goods, small gifts, wrapping paper and homewares as well as beautiful poinsettias. All attendees had the chance to enter a raffle for several exciting prizes.
This now annual tradition will continue to be a family oriented fundraiser to kick off the Season of Giving for Caritas Shanghai. A huge thank you to all volunteers, performers, participants and attendees for making this such a successful event.
